Working for more than twenty years as a textile designer, Susy believes design with which we live plays a more important role than most people realize. "Whenever we choose a product to bring home, there are things we see and feel such as color, pattern, and texture; but there is also the unseen emotional quality and the "chi" or energy flow" she says. "It can positively or negatively affect our mood and well being." Using the ancient Chinese art of Feng Shui, she explains her theory of holistic design in living, "Design with which we live should give us positive energy and complement us, therefore harmonize our lives."

Born in Taiwan, Susy grew up in a remote frontier village by the Pacific Ocean where steep mountains rise into the clouds. Most residents were tribal Aborigines who influenced Susy's philosophy of celebrating life and appreciating natures bountiful gifts. Like the designer herself, the characteristics of Susy's striking designs are upbeat, bold, fresh, and expressive.

Susy studied at Parsons school of design and the Fashion Institute of Technology. She started her design career by working as a textile designer with Diane Von Furstenburg. Soon after, she started her own business - Susy Chen Design Studio. She has worked with top notch artists and designed for major department stores, well known manufacturers and prestigious design houses. Her clients include Cowton & Tout, Scalamandre, Schumacher, P/Kaufmann, Macy's and Croscil Home Fashion. Her designs have been featured in interior design magazines, mail order catalogs such as Gumps, Ethan Allen and Horchow and also on Broadway in "The Sound of Music".

Out of her love for beautifully designed textiles, Susy Chen created a line of handbags made of exquisite fabrics and leather. Quality craftsmanship and attention to detail distinguish her elegant handbags. She also produced a collection of color coordinated home accessories in designer fabrics.

Jeap Imbrie, a former architect and interior designer, joined the company in 2004 and has had a great impact on the designs, with a focus on shape, structure and functionality. She also continues to design colors and supervise silk weavers for her family owned business Phanthip Thai Silk in Bangkok.
